Healthy, beautiful, shiny hair isn’t always achieved with products you use like shampoo, conditioner or treatments.  The most important thing is to maintain good Hair Nutrition .  Healthy hair stems from a healthy scalp.  Your scalp stays healthy because it is being supplied with nutrients from your blood. The follicles or roots of your hair are in your scalp and need those nutrients as well.

Simply maintaining a balanced diet is enough for your hair to grow healthy. A diet with the right mix of proteins, iron and other nutrients is the best way to go. It’s important to eat a healthy breakfast because your body is lowest on energy after sleeping.  You need to get your energy level back up to grow healthy hair and  for overall body health.

Hair strands are mostly made up of protein.  All of the following help grow healthy hair: protein, iron, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, omega-3 and biotin. It’s always good to check with your doctor before taking any supplements.

Some of the power foods that help over all health of body and hair are:  avocados, blueberries, salmon, green leafy vegetables, eggs, chicken, yogurt, whole grains. Iron fortified cereals can also help prevent hair loss.

It’s also important to stay hydrated.  Your body need fluids to keep all of your systems working.  A dry, hydrated scalp will not promote good hair health.

Equally important as eating good food is for healthy hair it is important to not do certain things.  Smoking is not good for you at all.  It deprives your body of oxygen and that in turn can suffocate your hair.  Those who smoke can over time have thinning, brittle hair.

Hair Nutrition is important to start beautiful hair from the inside.  Fill your plate with lots of good food and you will have beautiful hair and over all body health.
